International Open Call to participate in the
III Chinese Female Video Artists Festival
Mexico 2020
5célula arte y comunidad, an art group focused on the production of new imaginary and cultural territories, with the collaboration of the Museum of Mexico City, summon Chinese female artists who work with video to participate in this Third Festival of Chinese Female Video Artists that will take place in Mexico City from April 2020.
The Third Festival of Chinese Female Video Artists has been held during 2015 and 2017 in several venues in Mexico City and other Mexican cities such as Querétaro, Chihuahua and Ciudad Juárez, and was invited to San José de Costa Rica in 2018. This time the III Festival will have a greater roaming and will serve to project more strongly the video art that is currently produced in China in this part of the world.
Why we are focused on women?
We are convinced that it is necessary to support and strengthen the artistic creation carried out by women in the world, since art history has ignored their work over time and space. By establishing their own territory, the public will be able to discover other ways of saying the world that usually remain hidden. On the other hand, the Mexican audience is very interested in knowing the various proposals that artists share.
This Festival therefore summons the participation of Chinese artists working in China and any country in the world in which they develop. Gathering your work in one place will allow you to have a broad perspective of the creative force of half the sky of Chinese art.
The projections of the Festival will be at the Museum of Mexico City and at alternative venues in the same city, as well as in other capitals of the country. We hope that you can share with the Mexican public the different artistic discourses, perspectives, aesthetics and topics that women with similar cultural roots but different personal environments address.
BASES
Chinese or Chinese-born artists may participate with UP TO 3 VIDEO WORKS in the following categories:
ANIMATION
VIDEOARTE
VIDEO PERFORMANCE
DOCUMENTARY FILM
No more than 15 minutes long.
If spoken language is used, they must be subtitled in Spanish. To do this, the dialogues in English must be sent in text so that they are translated into Spanish and can be embedded in the videos. The organization will do the translation, and the subtitling will be done by the artist.
Note: You can also keep subtitles in Chinese and / or English.
FORMATS: Minimum: 720 × 576 (PAL) or 720 × 480 (NTSC), HD mpeg2 (DVD), H264 (mp4)
The works cannot exceed 2 Gigas.

THE FESTIVAL WILL START FROM APRIL IN THE MUSEUM OF THE CITY OF MEXICO AND FROM THERE SHOW IN THE DIFFERENT VENUES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
